This just in from Fernando D’Alessio, director general Centrum, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú: After a week of the terrible earthquake that shook off the Pisco city area, 300 kms south of Lima, the magnitude of the damage has been assessed and it has been the worst earthquake since I have lived in Peru, much worse than the 1974 earthquake that damaged Lima. By now the earthquake has killed almost 600 persons and injured more than 1,500 with serious damages.
As a board member of AACSB and director general of Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, Fernando D'Alessio has made an enormous contribution to the global community of management education, and has deepened our connection to all of our accredited and member schools in the area.
Director General D'Alessio thanks AASCB International and its board of directors and member schools worldwide for the letter of support John J. Fernandes, President and chief executive officer of AACSB sent on their behalf. “Please let them know our gratitude for being with us in these unforgettable and terrible moments.”
Gonzalo Galdos, director Escuela de Postgrado, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas echoed these sentiments. “It is touching to know that we have the affection of people abroad, and for this we are deeply thankful and grateful for your support in this time of grief.”
Donations: AACSB encourages everyone to donate to the Ica Earthquake 2007 Peru relief fund of their choice. Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú is accepting donations on their website as well as www.directrelief.org and the Red Cross.
