Daphne Koller is one of the two leaders of Stanford’s online efforts. She’s a professor in the Stanford artificial intelligence lab and wrote about the Stanford experience in her own op-ed in the New York Times last month (excerpt: "A 2010 analysis (PDF, 94 pages) from the (US) Department of Education, based on 45 studies, showed that online learning is as effective as face-to-face learning, and that blended learning is considerably more effective than either").
