Minimum Requirements: The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado is seeking candidates with outstanding leadership skills; a terminal degree in one of the disciplines within the College, including an earned doctorate and a record of outstanding academic achievement; experience with AACSB accreditation, sophisticated administrative and executive experience; a demonstrated commitment to personal and professional integrity that stresses the social and ethical responsibilities of business; as well as demonstrated success in development, fund raising, and alumni and community relations.
Preferred Requirements :The Dean should also have strong communication and
collaboration skills, as well as experience in leading strategic initiatives. The candidate should also possess a commitment to strengthening a diverse faculty, staff, and student body, as well as assuming a leadership role in nurturing innovative and distinctive education and research programs. The desired candidate should have a demonstrated success in building partnerships across campus and with the business community as well as effectiveness in increasing the international character and global perspective within a college of business. It is important for the candidate to have a commitment to a culture of assessment and continuous improvement. Experience with curriculum development, program expansion, and student recruitment is desirable. The preferred candidate should have the qualifications necessary for tenure.
Position Description
The University of Northern Colorado seeks a Dean for its Kenneth W.
Monfort College of Business, named in 1999 with the establishment of a
major financial commitment from the Monfort Family Foundation. The
College is one of the preeminent undergraduate business degree programs
in the country and requires a Dean with strong leadership and
communication skills, demonstrated scholarly accomplishments, and the
vision to entrepreneurially lead the College in its next steps as a
major contributor to business education locally, regionally,
nationally, and internationally. The Dean will be expected to
effectively work with and lead the faculty and staff of the College in
developing and realizing its strategic initiatives.
Accredited by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the Monfort College of Business seeks a leader who will work collaboratively to ambitiously pursue the fullest potential of the College as an internationally recognized leader in the education of professionals in accounting, management, marketing, computer information systems, finance, and general business. The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business is the first college of business to be the recipient of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and is the home to three schools: Accounting and Computer Information Systems; Finance; and Management and Marketing. Currently, the College serves 1,300 undergraduate majors and is home to the Monfort Executive Professor Program, Colorado Business Resource Center, and the Monfort Institute. The College has 39 full-time faculty, including 2 endowed positions, and an annual operating budget of $5.9 million.
The Dean is the chief executive officer for the College responsible for overseeing all operational and academic activities and serves as a leader and mentor to the faculty, staff, and students of the College. The Dean must be able to work collaboratively with the College’s stakeholders to strategically grow and enhance the College’s programs and profile and must foster a culture inspired by a shared vision and a sense of pride.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits may
include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of
several defined contribution retirement programs. Other benefits may be
available based on position.
